San Pedro marks Belize’s 45th Independence anniversary
San Pedro residents and visitors gathered on September 20th and 21st to celebrate the country’s 45th Independence anniversary under the theme, “Look at Me, I Am Belize @ 45.” The celebrations began at 8PM at the Saca Chispas Field with an evening of music, cultural presentations, and official ceremonies, then continued the following afternoon with the traditional Independence Day parade through the streets of San Pedro.

San Pedro Lobster Fest Block Party Draws Large Crowd for an Evening of Food and Entertainment
The 2026 San Pedro Lobster Festival concluded with its annual Block Party on Saturday, July 11th, at the Hon. Louis Sylvestre Sports Complex, also known as Saca Chispas Field. The celebration capped off more than a week of activities, including the popular Lobster Crawl, which invited residents and visitors to sample specialty lobster dishes and drinks at participating restaurants islandwide.

Demphra, La Factoria Headlines San Pedro’s Día de San Pedro Celebration
Hundreds of island residents and visitors gathered at Saca Chispas Field on Saturday, June 27th, as the San Pedro Town Council celebrated Día de San Pedro, the island's annual festival honoring its patron saint. The celebration combined cultural traditions with live entertainment, highlighted by the crowning of the new Queen of the Bay San Pedro and a headline performance by Panamanian recording artist Demphra of La Factoria.

Hollywood Glamour Takes Center Stage at San Pedro High School Prom 2026
San Pedro High School's 2026 prom brought Hollywood-style glamour to the Angel Nuñez Auditorium on May 30th, under the theme "Lights, Camera, Prom! Classic Hollywood Prom 2026: An Evening on the Red Carpet." Students arrived in elegant formal attire for one of the school's most anticipated celebrations of the year. The prom began at 6:30PM and featured a red-carpet entrance designed to evoke the feel of a Hollywood movie premiere.

San Pedro’s Mighty Blue Jaguars celebrated after Band Fest championship win
The San Pedro Roman Catholic School marching band, the Mighty Blue Jaguars, was celebrated on Friday, April 17th evening with a victory parade, award ceremony, and live performance at Ambergris Stadium following their first-place win in the school category at Band Fest 2026. The parade began at the south gas station at 5PM and ended at the stadium, where the performance commenced at 7PM following an awards presentation.

San Pedro welcomes 2026 with New Year’s Eve celebrations
San Pedro Town ushered in 2026 with a New Year’s Eve celebration at Saca Chispas Field on Tuesday, December 31, beginning at 10PM. The event was organized by the San Pedro Town Council and featured DJ Jash and the Gilharry-7 Band as the main entertainers, and a fireworks display at midnight. The festivities transformed the Hon. Louis Sylvestre Sporting Arena, commonly known as Saca Chispas Field, into a lively hub of music and celebration. Live DJ sets carried through the night, drawing residents and visitors alike to dance under the stars as anticipation built toward the midnight countdown.

San Pedro Roman Catholic Primary School (SPRCS) held its annual Christmas Variety Show on Saturday, December 6th, filling the Rafael Angel Nuñez Auditorium at San Pedro High School with music, dances, and holiday storytelling. Parents, students, teachers, and community members gathered from 4PM onward to enjoy 29 performances from Infant One to Standard Six.

On Saturday, May 10th, the San Pedro Town Council organized a spectacular Mother’s Day Extravaganza at the Honorable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex (Saca Chispas Field). The event transformed the venue into a lively hub filled with love, laughter, and entertainment, running from 6PM until 3 AM. The community came together to celebrate and honor the amazing mothers. A highlight of the evening was the award for Mother of the Year, which was presented to Bertha Graniel.
