Sea Bulls FC continues flawless lead in Island League tournament
Sea Bulls FC continues to lead the Island League Football Tournament, holding the top spot after Week 15. Despite some shuffling in the standings, Sea Bulls remain in first place with 35 points. Alaia FC moved up to second, while Sharks FC took third. Joker FC, which had been steadily climbing the rankings, dropped to fourth, and Boca Bombers fell to fifth.
The set of matches during Week 15 began on March 5th at the Ambergris Stadium, with Shark Shooters defeating G Strikers. With the victory, Shark Shooters increased their total to 26 points, while G Strikers remained at 12 points.

Island Heat Classic highlights competitive beach volleyball on Ambergris Caye
The San Pedro Beach Volleyball Association hosted the Island Heat Classic, a three-day two-on-two tournament for senior male and female players from March 7th to 9th. The competition was held daily from 8AM to 4PM at Boca del Rio Park. Registration was free for teams interested in participating, and eight teams competed in a round-robin format before advancing to the semifinals and finals.

The games are held every Sunday at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex (Saca Chispas Field), where residents and visitors gather as early as 10AM to cheer for their favorite teams. This season features five teams competing, showcasing local talent and promoting recreational sports on the island.

The national tournament was held on February 20th and 21st in Belize City, and BHS emerged victorious after a series of competitive matches.

The San Pedro Tiger Sharks opened their National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) season with a strong statement victory on February 20th, defeating the Cayo Western Ballaz 91-85 at the Belize Civic Center in Belize City. The win marked an impressive start for the island’s premier basketball team against one of the league’s traditionally competitive squads.

New Horizon SDA and San Pedro Roman Catholic School Crowned Zone 5 Football Champions
During the National Sports Council Zone 5 Primary School Football Tournament, held from February 9th to 19th at the Ambergris Stadium, New Horizon Seventh Day Adventist School (NHSDA) captured the male championship title, while San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) secured the female championship. The tournament featured male and female teams from SPRCS, Holy Cross Anglican School (HCAS), NHSDA, Caye Caulker Roman Catholic School (CCRCS), Ambergris Caye Elementary School (ACES), and Isla Bonita Elementary School (IBES). Over six days of competition, the schools competed in a round-robin format, culminating in the championship finals on February 19th.

Sharks Cup Closing Season Begins
The Sharks Cup Closing Season 2026 officially opened on Sunday, February 22nd, at 4PM inside the Angel Nuñez Auditorium at San Pedro High School. Organized by the San Pedro Volleyball Association, the tournament features youth categories, including U13 co-ed, U15 girls, and U15 boys, as well as senior female, male, and co-ed divisions. Two courts were set up to allow simultaneous matches throughout the afternoon.

The San Pedro Town Council Sports officially launched its highly anticipated annual softball tournament on Sunday, February 22nd, at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex. The tournament, featuring weekly Sunday games, opened with two competitive matchups among Marlins, RE/MAX, Crushers, and San Pedro High School (SPHS) Sharks.
