Island Runners Participate in First Valentine’s Mixed 5K Relay

On Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14th, San Pedro Town hosted its first mixed-team 5K relay run, drawing 25 teams of two. The event began at Central Park at 5:30AM and was a collaboration between the San Pedro Town Council Sports, the 501 Run Club, and KI KI Athletics, a local small business owned by Kian Trejo.

San Pedro Volleyball Association Hosts First Beach Volleyball Tournament of the Year

The San Pedro Volleyball Association hosted its first two-day beach volleyball tournament for the year on February 7th and 8th at Boca del Rio Park, drawing young athletes and senior competitors from across the island. The event featured the Plan A Beach Pros 2-on-2 Senior Male Division, with six teams, and the Sand and Sea Cup 3-on-3 Tournament for Under-15 female and male divisions, each with three teams.

Sea Bulls FC Still Leading in Island League Football Tournament

Following the first matches of the second round of the Island League Football Tournament, Sea Bulls FC continues to lead the competition standings with 25 points. Boca Bombers has climbed to second place with 23 points, while Sharks FC dropped to third. Team Alaia and Shark Shooters FC currently rank fourth and fifth, respectively.

Holy Cross Anglican School inaugurates upgraded football field

Holy Cross Anglican School officially inaugurated its newly renovated football field on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 9AM. The short ceremony, held on the school compound, included an invocation by Fr. Dr. Kesner Ajax, the national anthem, remarks from Principal Mrs. Elsy Torres and RE/MAX Belize Holdings Ltd. representatives Will Mitchell, Dustin Rennie, and Trevor Stack, followed by a ribbon-cutting at 9:18AM, acknowledgements of special guests, and the presentation of tokens of appreciation to sponsors.

Track and Field Academy Continues to Grow in San Pedro

The San Pedro Town Council Sports programme continues its Track and Field Academy, now in its fifth week of training at Ambergris Stadium. Sessions are held every Monday and Tuesday from 4PM to 5PM, with training sometimes extending to 5:30PM for older participants.

SPHS Female Football Team Prepares for NSSSA Regional Championships

The San Pedro High School (SPHS) female football team is set to compete in the Northern Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) regional football championships scheduled for February 7th in Orange Walk Town. The SPHS girls secured their spot at the regional level following two dominant qualifying victories against Caye Caulker. Their first qualifying match took place on January 13th, where SPHS delivered an 8–0 win. Goal scorers in that match were Terry Diaz, Alysha Reymundo, Aysha Acosta, Carly Maldonado, and Aubrey Segura.

Island League Concludes Round One with Sea Bulls FC in the Lead

At the conclusion of the first round of the Island League Football Tournament, Sea Bulls FC sits at the top of the standings, followed by Sharks FC and Boca Bombers, who had held first place in the league over the past few weeks. Shark Shooters and Alaia FC occupy fourth and fifth place, respectively. The competition will now take a short break before resuming on February 5, 2026.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks Set to Compete in NEBL Comeback Season

The island’s premier basketball team, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks, is preparing to represent San Pedro Town in the upcoming National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) season. The popular league returns after a five-year hiatus, offering a $100,000 cash prize. The season is scheduled to tip off on February 20th at the Belize City Civic Center.

Grim Reefer Claims Top La San Pedrana Wahoo Tournament

The fourth annual La San Pedrana Wahoo Tournament was held on January 17th and 18th at La San Pedrana Bar & Grill, located inside the Holiday Hotel in San Pedro Town. Organized by local fishing enthusiasts, the two-day event attracted 16 boats competing for top honors in catching and weighing wahoo.

Reef Sports launches youth football tournament in San Pedro

Reef Sports Belize launched its inaugural youth football tournament on Friday, January 17th, at the Sagebrush Church Sports Complex in the San Mateo area of San Pedro Town. The opening day of competition ran from 1PM to 4:30PM and featured five matches across three age categories: Under-8 (U8), Under-12 (U12), and Under-15 (U15).
