Beach Volleyball Takes Center Stage at Island Heat Classic

The San Pedro Volleyball Association hosted its Island Heat Classic Senior Female 2-on-2 Beach Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, August 15th, at Boca del Rio Park in San Pedro. The event ran from 8AM to 5PM and featured six teams competing in a double-elimination format for the top three positions and cash prizes.

San Pedro Pirates made a winning return to the Premier League of Belize (PLB), defeating Progresso FC 2–0 in their first match of the Opening Season. The anticipated game took place on August 15th at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye.

National Sports Council holds public consultation on new National Sports Policy

The National Sports Council of Belize (NSC) held its fourth public consultation on Wednesday, August 12th, at 11AM at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium in San Pedro Town. The consultation is part of the development of a new National Sports Policy and strategic plan intended to guide the country's sporting sector over the next 10 years. The meeting brought together athletes, coaches, school representatives, club officials, and community leaders to share their concerns and ideas for the future of sports in Belize.

Island Heat Classic returns to San Pedro

The San Pedro Volleyball Association will host another round of its Island Heat Classic beach volleyball tournament at Boca del Rio Park on Saturday, August 15th, starting at 8AM. The event will feature senior female teams competing in a two-on-two format, with cash prizes for the first-, second-, and third-place teams. The tournament follows the association's recent completion of a volleyball training camp for children.

Reymundo has been training with the college’s football team, the Motlow Bucks, ahead of their upcoming season in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA).

Terror Squad and C20 FD Claim Beach Soccer Marathon Titles

A beach soccer marathon was held on Sunday, August 9th, starting at 4PM at Infinity Island Beach Bar, formerly Island Wonder. The games were organized by Infinity Island, DJ Debbie, and Glenda Sanchez. The event featured both female and male divisions and was played in a five-a-side format with 10-minute halves.

Team Robb’s Red Rumm Wins 2026 San Pedro Classic Fly-Fishing Tournament

From August 6th to the 8th, San Pedro once again celebrated community, conservation, and sport during the annual San Pedro Classic Fly-Fishing Tournament. A total of 22 teams participated this year, competing for permit, bonefish, and tarpon on the island’s pristine fly-fishing flats. At the end of the three-day competition, Team Robb’s Red Rumm emerged as the champions. The team also claimed the grand prize last year, when competing under the name One Shot Willy’s.

On Friday, August 7th, the fourth week of the Legends Over 35 Football Tournament featured two intense matches between United FC, E & L FC, Caye Caulker Seasoned Strikers, and Old Boys.

Young athletes take part in track and field time trials

The San Pedro Town Council Sports Department hosted its first track and field time trials on Monday, August 3rd, at the Ambergris Stadium, marking the start of a new performance-based program to develop young athletes and strengthen the island's track and field team. The event began at 4PM and featured competitors in the 12-14 age group's 800-meter event and the 15-17 age group's 1,600-meter event, along with exhibition 400-meter races for children aged 8 to 11.

First Battle of the Masters race held in San Pedro

The island welcomed August with the first-ever race designed specifically for runners aged 30 to 39 and 40 and older. Held on Saturday, August 1st, at the southern end of the San Pedrito Highway in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, the event, dubbed the Battle of the Masters, brought together veteran runners and supporters of the sport for an early morning competition.
